FF XII’s First Day

Seems like most of the bigger games stores around Tokyo had another load of snaking queues to deal with before the 7am ‘opening time’, with quite a few students and workers among them before school/work started. It seems as though FF XII is off to a good start. Regardless of what online fans have said of those ‘potions’, they also sold well, according to the sources.

Talking of FF series though, check out Square Enix’s mobile site. Whether its EZ or imode, both Dragon Quest and FF series have games ready for transmission. And DQ fans can now download their favourite monster and rear them ‘Tamagotchi’-style on their phones :)

Tetris DS has a nice new TV ad out in America now: take a look. Remember I wrote about a Sudoku game a while back from Hudson? Sudoku addicts in Japan can now enter a competition hosted by the company on 26th (1-4pm) at Akihabara Cross Field UDX, and can only apply for the competition via their official site (apparently, though no mention can I find of the said competition) – so reports Famitsu.

Whilst browsing, I also came across an interesting chart. What consoles have been doing well this week? Obviously what with DS Lite having sold out 100%, it comes as no surprise that they top the chart (68,438), followed by the DS (49,118) and PSP (43,110). In eighth place comes Xbox360 with 1,240 (Xbox at ninth with 101). Despite all that propaganda/publicity, Microsoft still seems to be lagging far behind their competitors. Maybe it’s time that they rethought their strategy for ‘attempt to take over the Japanese games market’.
